Buenos Aires, January 26, 2026 – Total News Agency-TNA – An act of valor and solidarity by two young Argentines, aged 15 and 21, has become a noteworthy example during the peak summer season in Punta del Este. They rescued an entire family that was in grave danger after their boat capsized in the sea.
The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon in the Boca Grande area, near the port breakwater, when Argentine brothers Dante and Santino Puddu, who were visiting the Uruguayan city, were jet skiing and had no idea that minutes later they would be at the center of a dramatic rescue.
Dante, 21, noticed the situation when he saw people waving their arms from the water and, along with his 15-year-old brother Santino, immediately approached to help. Floating in the water were seven people—five adults and two minors, aged 2 and 14—who had been adrift after the vessel they were in capsized for reasons not yet fully clear.
Without hesitation, the brothers acted with speed and composure. While Dante assisted an exhausted adult woman struggling to stay afloat, Santino took care of rescuing the 14-year-old teenager. In one of the most delicate maneuvers, the mother managed to hold her young daughter until she was brought aboard the support vessel.
Minutes later, the Uruguayan Prefectura (Coast Guard) intervened and transported all the rescued individuals to Cantegril Hospital, where they received preventive medical care. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported, although several people were in a state of shock due to the ordeal.
A few days later, the rescued teenager contacted the brothers to thank them and confirm that her entire family was safe. The episode takes on greater significance amid several maritime incidents off the coast of Punta del Este this summer.
